CHEVRON INTRODUCES VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM IN ACEH
PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI), in cooperation with USAID, has introduced a new vocational training program to help students in Aceh.
The training is being conducted through the polytechnic Caltex Riau(PCR), the establishment of which was sponsored by PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI).
The program incuding a”train the trainer” program for 39 Acehnese teachers.
In 2006, 350 acehnese and Nias youths completed three_month vocational training programs for welding, civil works, carpentry, bookkepping and electrical installation.
It was reported that 268 of the graduates got either permanent or temporary jobs. Polytechnic Caltex Riau is Riau provinve’s first elite polytechnic university.
During the polytechnic’s first year of operation in 2001, there were 640 enrollment. By 2010, the campus expects to enroll 1.000 students that target PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI).
